Ofsted
25th June 2024
Dear Parent/Carer,
As you will know, we were recently inspected by OFSTED (11th and 12th June 2024). I have today received the final report (which is attached to this letter) and can announce that OFSTED have graded us as a ‘Good’ school. The inspectors concluded that Atam Academy is GOOD in all areas (Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management and Early Years Provision), resulting in an Overall Effectiveness of GOOD for the School.
The inspectors that visited our School carried out their inspection over the two days, which included deep dives into various subjects, lesson visits, discussions with staff/pupils, meetings with school leaders and scrutiny of work undertaken by children. They had email and telephone discussions with our parents. They met with myself as Principal, members of the Local Governing Body, members of the Trust Board and other external agents.
OFSTED found that:
“Pupils at Atam Academy have positive, committed attitudes to their learning”.
“The school has high expectations for pupils’ behaviour. Pupils behave well in classrooms around the school.”
“Pupils understand the importance of the school’s values. They enjoy learning about Sikhism.”
“Teachers have good subject knowledge.”
“The school has placed high priority on the importance of reading, right from the start in early years”
“The school promotes a love of reading throughout the school.”
“The school has a well-planned and extensive personal development programme. This is underpinned by the school’s Sikh values.”
“Governors are well-informed and understand their statutory duties”
I consider this an excellent achievement for the School and community and are exceptionally proud of all Staff and Pupils for their efforts during this inspection, the two years leading up to the inspection, and the ongoing performance of the School, which continues to improve day by day.
The full report is available to view on our Website.
It is worth recognising that the report is extremely positive, and although there have been some areas highlighted for improvement, School and Trust Leaders had already identified (and have been working to improve these areas) which clearly
demonstrates the strong leadership of the School and Trust, who are committed to implement and review strategies which will deal with the areas raised by the Ofsted inspection.
