Keeping Children Safe

The safety and welfare of our students is of the utmost importance.  All adults working in the Trust are aware of their duty to protect children from harm and abuse, promote their welfare and be alert to indications that any student might be at risk of harm or abuse.  They are aware that this could happen to any child and that any concerns need to be referred on.

What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding covers the actions we take to protect the welfare all our students. More information about actions taken by each school can be found on the school websites.

What is Child Protection?

Child Protection concerns -actions taken for those students who have been identified as having suffered or may be at risk of suffering significant harm.

In addition, this section of the website provides different overviews of relevant areas from FGM to County Lines to Self-harm to Missing Children etc.  These can all be accessed from the menu.

The Trust’s Duty of Care:

We have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of our students under the Education Act 2002 and Children Act 1999 by identifying any child where welfare concerns exist and taking action to address them in partnership with families and other agencies where appropriate.

The Trust and Atam Academy work with Redbridge which has been adopted by the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) and in accordance with the Government documents:

  • “Working Together to Safeguard Children”
  • "Keeping Children Safe in Education"

More information about specific aspects of child protection can be found on this website under this heading.
